Wood Shipping Crates for Freight & Export
Shipping Crates for Sale
Used and new wooden shipping crates for freight, export, and storage — closed-wall and open/slatted, collapsible and fixed-wall, in sizes from small parts crates up to 96"x48" export units. This page covers the "shipping" use case specifically: crating built to move and protect freight, not general-purpose storage bins. If you're looking for our standard-duty storage crate line instead, see non-collapsible wood crates; for new/custom bulk orders, browse the wood crates category hub.
Used & New Wooden Shipping Crates We Stock
- Closed-wall crates — full solid-panel construction for enclosed, tamper-resistant shipping. Typical range: 33"x24"x19" up to 96"x48"x48".
- Open/slatted crates — gapped-panel construction, lighter and cheaper, used where ventilation or visual inspection matters more than full enclosure.
- Collapsible shipping crates — knock-down frame for return-freight savings, commonly 22"x22"x23" up to 58"x46"x34" in our current inventory.
- Fixed (nesting) crates — rigid, non-folding, often used where crates stay in a closed loop rather than shipping back empty.
- Lidded crates — removable or hinged lids available separately or pre-installed; lid/cover questions are one of the most common things buyers ask us about.

Crating vs. Pallet + Gaylord: Which Do You Need?
If your load needs full enclosure, stacking strength, and protection against handling damage or weather during transit — especially for export — a wooden crate is the right call, and ISPM-15 heat-treated/stamped crates are available for international shipments that require it. If you're moving bulk material within a closed domestic loop and don't need solid-panel enclosure, a pallet with a corrugated or plastic gaylord is usually the cheaper option. Not sure which fits your lane? Tell your rep the destination and handling method and they'll steer you to the right format.
Used vs. New Pricing
Used shipping crates typically run well below new, with price driven mainly by size, wall type (closed vs. slatted), and whether ISPM-15 treatment/stamping is required. New crates are the better fit when you need export compliance documentation, a matched custom size, or guaranteed structural rating. Our inventory turns over regularly — browse current listings below for what's actually priced and in stock today rather than a list price.
Freight & Pickup
Nationwide LTL and full-truckload freight available, with local pickup at our yard for buyers in range. Collapsible crates ship knocked-down to cut freight cost on larger orders; closed-wall crates ship assembled.
FAQ
- Do you have ISPM-15 heat-treated crates for export?
- Yes — heat-treated and stamped crates are available for international shipments that require ISPM-15 compliance. Confirm stamping is in place on the specific listing before booking export freight.
- What sizes of shipping crates do you carry?
- Our current range runs from small 22"x22"x23" collapsible crates up to 96"x48"x48" export crates, in both closed-wall and open/slatted styles. See the size table above or browse live listings for exact dimensions.
- Do your crates come with lids?
- Many listings include a removable or hinged lid; others are sold crate-only with a lid available separately. Check the listing description — this is one of the most common questions we get, so we flag lid status on-page where we can.
- What's the difference between closed-wall and open/slatted crates?
- Closed-wall crates fully enclose the load for tamper resistance and weather protection; open/slatted crates use gapped panels, which is lighter and less expensive but offers less enclosure — good where ventilation or visual inspection matters more.
- Can I get a custom crate size?
- New custom crates are available — tell your rep your load dimensions and weight and they'll quote a build. For standard sizes, check current used inventory first; it's usually the faster and cheaper option.
- Do you buy surplus shipping crates?
- No — you can list your surplus crates for sale on our website for FREE, including full truckloads. Set your own price. Start selling today, list your surplus crates for free now.
