FAQs

How Should I Store Pallets?

Plastic Pallets

Plastic Pallets can typically be stored inside or outside. The plastic can degrade in sunlight, but that's not terribly common. Leaving pallets outside might also make them dirty and attract bugs, but these are generally easy to clean.

Metal Pallets

Metal Pallets are best stored inside to prevent rust, of course. Many metal pallets are actually made from Aluminum, and so they don't rust. Aluminum pallets are pretty high value, so don't leave them easily accessible. Pallet theft is a real problem, folks!

Wooden Pallets

It's best to store wooden pallets inside; they'll last much longer if they're not exposed to the elements.  You can store them outside, but due to the materials, they could attract bugs and be harder to clean.

Why Plastic Pallets Make Sense

Because they’re a smart business decision, built to consistent dimensions, don't carry bugs or other living materials, are easier to clean, and they last longer than wooden pallets.

Typically, people use plastic pallets to ship and store various goods and materials in a closed loop.  You might also use a Rackable pallet in a warehouse facility where you're using drive-in racking.  Plastic Pallets are also built to a specification so you know they can hold a certain weight.

Many Stackable Totes (handheld sizes) are sized to fit perfectly on a 45" x 48" Pallet.  This is a beautiful automotive spec system which works very well for smaller parts and assemblies.  If you sell high value goods to other manufacturers, consider getting a Tote and Pallet System to ship your goods, keep them safe and secure, and reduce packaging waste.

What Types of Pallets Do You Offer?

We offer a wide variety of pallets, including plastic pallets, wooden pallets, and metal pallets. Each type has unique advantages depending on your shipping and storage needs. Plastic pallets are lightweight, consistent, and long-lasting. Buy wooden pallets if you're seeking cost-effectiveness. Metal pallets provide strength and durability for heavy-duty applications. All are available new or used through our pallet marketplace.

What Are the Standard Pallet Sizes Available?

The most common pallet sizes we offer are 40" x 48", 45" x 48", and export-sized pallets. These standard dimensions make it easy for businesses to store, ship, and stack goods efficiently. By matching industry-preferred sizes, pallets integrate smoothly with racking systems, forklifts, and containers. Whether you need new or used pallets, Container Exchanger connects you to reliable options in bulk quantities.

How Much Weight Can a Standard Pallet Hold?

Weight capacity depends on pallet material and design. Plastic pallets often hold 2,500 to 5,000 pounds, while wooden pallets can typically support 2,000 to 3,000 pounds. Metal pallets, including heavy-duty aluminum or steel pallets, handle even heavier loads. Choosing the right type ensures safe handling and transport in your warehouse. All pallets listed on our site include weight ratings for clear, dependable guidance.

How Much Do Pallets Cost?

Pallet pricing varies by material, condition, and size. Used pallets are often the most cost-effective choice, while new pallets provide long-term reliability. Plastic pallets may cost more upfront but last longer. Wood pallets are inexpensive but may need replacing sooner. Metal pallets command higher prices for their strength.
